The 68th annual Black Hawk Lake Water Carnival in Lake View begins Friday, and organizers are anticipating some of the largest crowds the event has ever seen. The pandemic did not prevent last year’s celebration from moving ahead, but some of the more popular events, such as the Parade of Water Floats and Bill Riley Talent show, were cancelled due to COVID-19. Carnival Chair, Ally Leners, says there is pent-up demand for social gatherings, and the three-day Water Carnival will definitely meet that need.
All the fan favorites are back on the schedule, including the Kiddie Parade and fireworks Friday night, the street parade and water floats on Saturday, and Little Miss Black Hawk pageant and mud volleyball on Sunday. These are some of the Water Carnival’s most well-attended attractions, but Leners says the food offerings are just as popular.
Leners adds you can’t call it a carnival without rides, live entertainment and activities. She says those will not be in short supply this weekend.
The 68th annual Black Hawk Lake Water Carnival begins Friday, July 16 and runs through Sunday, July 18. No matter if you make it to just one day or all three, Leners says there will be something for everyone to enjoy. Links to the full 2021 Water Carnival schedule can be found included below.
