Jefferson Man Charged With Homicide By Vehicle Scheduled For Trial In September

A Jefferson man charged in Carroll County District Court with homicide by vehicle has been scheduled for trial in September. According to court records, 21-year-old Jacob Allen Hubbs filed a not guilty plea on Wednesday to one count of homicide by vehicle, operating while intoxicated, a class B felony, and homicide by vehicle, reckless driving, a class C felony. The charges stem from a Sept. 4, 2020 accident near Lidderdale that killed 76-year-old Kenneth Lee Johnston of Lanesboro. Authorities say Hubbs was traveling northbound on Robin Avenue and failed to stop for a posted sign at the intersection with 130th street, colliding with the driver’s side of Johnston’s 2007 Toyota Corolla. The jury trial is set to begin on Tuesday, Sept. 14 with a pretrial conference slated for Monday, Aug. 23.
