Gov. Kim Reynolds issued a disaster proclamation today (Friday) for the 10 counties impacted by recent severe weather. The counties covered in the order include Appanoose, Bremer, Calhoun, Davis, Fayette, Lucas, Monroe, Sac, Wapello and Winneshiek Counties for the storms that passed through on Wednesday, July 14. The proclamation allows state resources to be utilized to respond to and recover from the severe weather’s negative effects and activates the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant and Disaster Case Management Programs. Iowa Individual Assistance provides grants of up to $5,000 for households with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level that can be used for home or car repairs, clothing and food replacement and temporary housing expenses. Applicants have 45 days from the date of the proclamation to submit their claim. The Disaster Case Management Program works with clients to create a disaster recovery plan and offer guidance, advice and referrals for services and resources. This program does not have an income requirement and closes 180 days after the proclamation. Grant application details can be found included below.
