Iowa DOT Driver’s License Bureau Warns Of Scam And Phishing Text Messages

The Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Driver’s License and Identification Services Bureau is warning of scam and phishing texts being sent to Iowans. They say these are coming under the guise of confirming information related to driver’s licenses or driving records. These, they say, are not coming from the Iowa DOT. The ONLY time the DOT will send a text message related to your driver’s license is to confirm a scheduled appointment. It is important to note that this text does not include any links at all and no action is required, it is simply a reminder. If you receive a similar message that asks you to click on an included link and verify information, please do not follow those instructions, but instead delete the text. Anyone who has questions regarding communications that appear to come from the Iowa DOT can call the driver’s license information line at 515-244-8725.
