Guthrie Center Man Uninjured After Hitting Post Office With Vehicle

A Guthrie Center man was uninjured after striking the post office with his vehicle Saturday. The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene in the 500 block of Main Street in Guthrie Center at approximately 3:04 p.m. Upon arrival, they learned that 94-year-old Theodore Keith Hansen had been pulling into a parking space in a 2021 Toyota pickup truck and had accidently pressed the gas pedal instead of the brake. The truck jumped the curb and collided with the building near the door. There was an estimated $12,000 in damages to the Toyota and $6,000 in damages to the post office. Hansen was cited for failure to maintain control.
