Lake City officials have scheduled their annual communitywide cleanup day for the end of the month. Residents will be able to bring unwanted household items to the water plant on Washington Street from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 31. Some materials do come with disposal fees. Tire disposal ranges between $3 and $75 each depending on the size of the tire. Television sets are $10 and all other appliances are $25. Residents will also be able to dispose of vehicles during the event, but they must contact city hall first for instructions. Items that will not be accepted include regular trash, computers, computer monitors and other components, yard waste and construction debris. City officials are requesting volunteers to assist with unloading materials. If interested in helping, contact Administrator, Eric Wood, at 712-464-3111. Curbside pickup on an as-needed basis is available and can be arranged by calling the same number.
