Lyle Jay Taber, age 76, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City, IA. Lyle was born on April 30, 1945, to parents Paul and Elnora (Brandt) Taber in Eldora, IA.
He was baptized into the Methodist faith and graduated from New Providence High School with the class of 1963. On February 14, 1964, Lyle was united in marriage to Joyce Borton in Hubbard, IA. This union was blessed with two sons, Tad and Bret. The family moved to Sac City where Lyle owned Youll Plumbing and Heating for many years. Lyle was a member of the Lions Club and enjoyed bowling in the city bowling league.
Lyle was an avid record collector. He loved the hunt and discovery of new records for his collection as he and the family visited many flea markets and antique malls looking for that next great find! He was especially fond of rocka-billy and doo-wop. He really liked the “rockers”! Lyle enjoyed sharing his love of music with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Those left to cherish Lyle’s memory include his children: Tad (Debbie) Taber of McKinney, TX, and Bret (Lisa) Taber of Johnston, IA; grandchildren: Jeff (Stephanie) Kriesel, Alex Kriesel, Morgan Taber, and Atlee Taber; brother Paul (Shirley) Taber of Conway, AR; sister-in-law Judy (Darwin) Carlton of Raymore, MO; brother-in-law Dale (Freda) Meyer of Schaller, IA; numerous extended family members and friends.
Lyle is preceded in death by his wife Joyce Taber, parents Paul and Elnora Taber, sister Lynn Rae Taber, and parents-in-law Harold Borton and Henry and Lydia Meyer.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City, IA, with Reverend Missy Brown officiating. Farber & Otteman Funeral Home of Sac City is charge of arrangements.
