A local family is taking a unique approach in order to raise money for the St. Anthony Regional Hospital Cancer Center in Carroll. On Sunday, Aug. 1, Mark Nepple and family will be selling fresh-cut sunflowers from their farm just east of Mt. Carmel. Like many families in the area, cancer has impacted the Nepples on more than one occasion, which sparked the idea for the fundraiser.
The Carroll area has a tremendous history of supporting local fundraisers, so they wanted to do something that would set this one apart from the others. The Nepples keep a field of sunflowers on their property for the bees they keep, and he says that field has always drawn a lot of attention.
Flowers will be available from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 1 at their farm at 19813 140th Street. Nepple says their farm is easy to find.
He adds they are hoping to take the sunflower theme even further in the future.
Nepple says they will be releasing more information about that aspect of the fundraiser soon. He adds people who want to support the Cancer Center but cannot make it to Sunday sale can send donations to @StAnthony-Foundation using the Venmo app.
