The Wall Lake City Council is seeking public input on a proposed housing addition for the community. According to Clerk, Chris Rodman, officials are investigating three potential sites for the expansion. One of those sites is the baseball field on the west side of town. Rodman says there are several aspects of the property that make it an attractive option.
Rodman adds the overall cost of the project would also be significantly lower with less than 500 feet of road to be constructed. The East Sac County (ESC) Community School District currently owns the ballfield, but early indications are that they would be willing to sell the unused diamond at a significantly reduced price compared to the other two properties the council is considering. City officials understand that some residents may be opposed to the field being replaced by residential lots, and Rodman encourages individuals with concerns about this possibility to make them known to city leaders.
Again, the number for Wall Lake City Hall is 712-664-2216. The council does not have a firm deadline for when comments should be submitted but requests residents interested in doing so have them in by the end of August. After a site has been selected, the council will need to go through the process of purchasing the property and drawing up plans for infrastructure installation. City officials are scheduled to meet with an engineering and design firm to start work on cost estimates next week.
