Glidden FFA Fun Days Promises Fun For Whole Family Starting Thursday

Glidden will be welcoming hundreds of visitors later this week as organizers finish final preparations for the 2021 Glidden FFA Fun Days. The event begins the evening of Thursday, Aug. 5 when the carnival rides open in downtown. At 3 p.m. on Friday is the Iowa Savings Bank penny dive at the Glidden Aquatic Center with the all-school reunion at 6 p.m. and the greased pig contest starting at 7 p.m. in the ballpark on the west side of town. Glidden-Ralston FFA Alumni Vice President, Dan Schoenherr, says the event has grown each year for the last two decades.

The Glidden FFA Fun Days truly get underway on Saturday morning. Attendees can grab a community breakfast of biscuits and gravy and eggs in City Park starting at 7 a.m. Registration for the 5K opens at 7:30 a.m. with the run get started at 8 a.m. The tractor ride rolls out at 8:30 a.m. and people can sign up starting at 9 a.m. for the Little Miss and Mister FFA Contest or the Auto and Motorcycle Show. Schoenherr says the most well-attended event is almost always the parade

Schoenherr says the rest of Saturday is filled with activities the whole family can enjoy.

While the event is focused on fun, it also serves as a fundraiser for the Glidden-Ralson FFA Chapter.

Cash prizes of up to $300 will be awarded to the winning tickets. The full 2021 Glidden FFA Fun Days schedule can be found included below.
