RAGBRAI 2021 wrapped up Saturday when riders cruised into Clinton, but locally, cyclists took to the trails to support the 2021 Relay for Life. Co-chair, Austin Scott, says the Sunday, Aug. 1 event is one of the newest, born out of the pandemic and a brainstorming meeting with the other co-chairs, Shaun and Carly Quam.
Participants joined for a free-will donation, and Scott says they had a pretty good turnout.
Riders started out at Rolling Hills Park and they rode to the Angry Beaver and then to Whiskey Run, both in Maple River. They then looped back to the Carroll Brewery. There was also an opportunity for cyclists to win a prize.
The Carroll County Relay for Life generally takes place in the spring, but was postponed until Sunday, Aug. 29 due to the pandemic. The event will now be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Graham Park. More information is available by following the link included below.
