Repair Work On Carroll Courthouse Parking Lot Approved

The Carroll County Board of Supervisors discussed work needed on the courthouse parking lot at their recent meeting. Supervisor Rich Ruggles says an investment of $15,000 to $20,000 in materials would fix both sides of the parking lot with the labor portion being done by the Secondary Roads Department.

The material, he says, should be five to six inches at least. Dean Schettler says the timing is right to get this work completed.

Stephanie Hausman says they will need to consider closing off access at some point because the lot is opening up more as Badding Construction comes closer to completion on the jail project. Ruggles was contacted by the Iowa Soybean Association about doing a coating on the parking lot that would aid with longevity. Ruggles says he discussed this with the County Engineer, Zac Andersen, and believes the details should be presented to the entire board before a decision is made.

The repairs were approved on a unanimous vote but a stipulation was added that they were not to exceed $40,000. Funding is to be drawn from Local Option Sales Tax (L.O.S.T.).
