This coming weekend is the annual Iowa Sales Tax Holiday. On Friday and Saturday, residents get a break from the sales tax to purchase clothes, shoes and other select items. This includes a break from local option sales tax as well. Clothing and footwear must be priced below $100 per piece, no matter how many items are purchased at one time. Any retailers open on Aug. 6 and Aug. 7 are required to take part in the holiday and it does extend to internet sales if products are ordered and paid for during the exemption holiday.
