A Sac County Sheriff’s Office deputy was recognized last week by the Iowa Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau for his commitment to making Iowa’s roadways in his service area safer. Sgt. Jonathon Meyer was selected for the award by the Bureau and the Iowa Department of Public Safety (DPS). Meyer was nominated due to his “outstanding service to the cause of reducing injuries and loss of life in traffic crashes in Iowa.” He specializes in traffic enforcement and drug recognition and also acts as the department’s field sobriety instructor. Meyer also served as the agency’s K-9 handler prior to K-9 Petey’s retirement earlier this year.
