DHS Announces Newest Pandemic Food Assistance Distribution Plan For Children

The Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS) has released their distribution plan for Summer Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) food assistance for eligible Iowa children. To qualify for the program, children must have been enrolled or eligible to enroll in free or reduced-price meals during the 2021-21 school year. This includes school-aged kids who participated in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) but did not receive P-EBT benefits because they did not utilize remote learning, and students who recently qualified for free or reduced-price meals. The Summer P-EBT amount is $375 per child with two separate deposits into the child’s account. The first half should appear between Aug. 13 and Aug. 20 with the remaining amount between Sept. 11 and Sept. 20. For more information on the Summer P-EBT program, use the contact points included below.
