A motorcyclist was able to elude authorities in a high-speed chase late Saturday. The Carroll Police Department reports the pursuit began at approximately 10:47 p.m. when an officer attempted a traffic stop at U.S. Highway 71 and 1st Street. The driver did not stop and officers pursued to the south of town, but the chase was discontinued near the Highway 71 and Highway 141 junctions because of safety concerns. Area authorities were notified and the chase was picked up again, this time by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, but discontinued again near the Guthrie County line in consideration of the safety of other motorists on the highway.
