Bonnie Kay Berns, age 83, of Glidden, IA, passed away on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Journey Senior Services in Carroll.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll with Pastor Ryan Roehrig officiating. Music for the service will be Briee Roehrig and Abe Batten. Casket bearers will be Matt Heidemann, David Schwering, Cody Berns, Todd Huff, and Randy Landherr. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.
Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden after 5:00 P.M. on Monday where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M. The casket will be moved to St. Paul Lutheran Church at 9:30 A.M. on Tuesday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M.

Bonnie was born on April 13, 1938 in Carroll, IA, and she was the daughter of Warren and Alice (Topp) Remsburg. She grew up on her family’s farm near Lanesboro and graduated from Glidden High School in 1956. Bonnie was married to Dale Berns on May 5, 1957 at Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden. The couple lived in Lanesboro and Bonnie worked at an insurance agency and Lincoln Elementary School in Lake City. Bonnie and Dale moved to the Berns family farm in 1958 and they purchased their current farm in 1963. Bonnie was active in the farming operation and she was passionate about genealogy. Bonnie was a faithful Lutheran and she enjoyed reading and going for walks. She also enjoyed going for rides around Swan Lake, listening to Polka music, and spending time with her family.
Bonnie is survived by her children and their families: son Terry of rural Glidden; daughter Kathy Berns of Clear Lake; nine grandchildren: David Schwering (Nikki), Kendra Landherr (Randy), Nikki Berns, Jessica Heidemann (Matt), Emily Berns, Cody Berns, Dallas Berns, Megan Ferk, Mallory Ferk; ten great-grandchildren: Kailey, Carson, Kenzie, Caden, Jack, Lakeisha, Lavon, Laleila, Lane, and Lyla; a brother Ed Remsburg (Marty) of West Des Moines; a sister-in-law Dorothy Diekmann (Raymond) of Parker, CO; a brother-in-law Marvin Berns (Shirley) of Urbandale; and several nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents Warren and Alice Remsburg; her father and mother-in-law Harold and Lillian Berns; two sons Tommy and B.J. “Brian” Berns; and her husband Dale in 2017.
