The second generation of a local family has brought back a golf tournament that raises funds for a regional healthcare organization. The 13th annual Masching Memorial Golf Tournament was held on the last day of July and the 120 golfers generated $14,000 for the St. Anthony Regional Cancer Center. “We had a warm and beautiful day for golfing and raising money to support the Cancer Center—it doesn’t get any better than that,” says Carly (Masching) Pedelty. “We are very blessed with all the donors who support the fundraiser.” St. Anthony Regional Hospital President and CEO, Ed Smith, says the work the women and their families have done in organizing this special event is exceptional. “We are so grateful for their determination to raise more than $10,000—and to top that by $4,000. The Masching family’s generosity is going to impact so many families in our area.” The 2021 tournament was organized by Pedelty, Mara Masching and Abby (Masching) Flynn. It originated in 1993 and was led by their parents, Jacque Masching and Cork Masching, as well as aunts and uncles, Rich and Barb (Masching) Golwitzer, Paul and Pat (Masching) Wiedemeier, Mike and Renee Masching and Mary Kay and the late Rick Masching. From that first year until 2004, the tournament raised more than $50,000 for St. Anthony Hospice in memory of Ed and Norma Masching.
