Two women have been charged with assault following an altercation earlier this week in Carroll. According to Carroll County District Court records, the Carroll Police Department was dispatched at approximately 12:38 a.m. Monday morning to the 500 block of E. 7th Street in response to a fight in progress. Upon arrival, authorities spoke with the participants, identified as 43-year-old Amy Jo Hunter and 35-year-old Alisha Mirene Launderville, both of Carroll. Their investigation determined Hunter had struck Launderville in the face with a cloth that had sharpened stars attached to it. Authorities say Launderville threw Hunter to the ground and struck her in the face. Both women sustained minor injuries during the dispute. They were cited for assault, a simple misdemeanor, and released. Their preliminary hearings have been scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 2.
