The Iowa Soybean Research Center (ISRC) at Iowa State University will be sponsoring two events in celebration of Soybean Month. On the eve of the first-of-its-kind event, the ISRC will host a SoyFest kickoff with Meals from the Heartland from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Hansen Agriculture Student Learning Center. Up to 20,000 meals will be packaged and sent to those in need in various locations around the world and will focus on soy as the protein base. Then, the center’s inaugural SoyFest will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 25 on central campus near Parks Library. The public is invited to attend the outdoor celebration of all things soy that will feature vendors, a free cookout, robotic demonstrations, a photo booth, carnival games, soy-related snacks, cooking, giveaways and more. Organizers designed the event to highlight the importance of soy and its many uses from food to new and innovative products. In the event of inclement weather, SoyFest will be moved to the Iowa Farm Bureau Pavilion.
