Carroll Man Originally Charged With Felony Burglary Pleads Guilty To Misdemeanor Trespassing

A Carroll man arrested last month after breaking into a residence was sentenced to probation yesterday (Tuesday). District court records show 26-year-old Joshua Daniel Lepird was taken into custody by the Carroll Police Department on July 24 when he was located inside a home in the 1100 block of N. Adams Street. He was initially charged with second-degree burglary, a class C felony, for kicking in one of the home’s doors and hiding inside one of its rooms. A motion to amend the charge from felony burglary to first-offense trespassing, a simple misdemeanor, was approved earlier this month, and Lepird pled guilty to the lesser offense. On Tuesday, Lepird was ordered to pay $300 in fines and surcharges and was placed on probation for one year.
