The Iowa Department on Aging is seeking the public’s help to identify the state’s centenarians. Any Iowan who will be 100 years old or older by Dec. 31, 2021 is eligible for recognition. According to department staff, these individuals have lived through events many people have only learned of through books, movies or history class and should be celebrated. Each identified centenarian will receive a certificate signed by Iowa Governor, Kim Reynolds, and will be given the option to have a profile listed on the Iowa Department of Aging’s website that shares their life experiences with fellow Iowans. Eligible individuals or their loved ones can submit recognition forms to the department through the link included below this story. Entries must be completed and submitted by the end of business on Monday, Aug. 30. A virtual recognition event will be held in the late fall or early winter to honor these individuals.
