Local 4-H Leader Inducted Into Iowa 4-H Foundation Hall Of Fame

A local 4-H leader has been inducted into the Iowa 4-H Foundation Hall of Fame. Lora Reever leads the Richland Hot Shots and was officially recognized on Aug. 22 during the Iowa State Fair for her outstanding dedication to the organization and its mission to help children and teens reach their full potential. Her involvement in 4-H began when she joined the club in Woodward as a child. Reever came back to the organization when her son, Will, joined 4-H about 15 years ago.

Her work with the Richland Hot Shots continued while her other children, Wes and Whitney, made their way through the program. Reever says her love for 4-H kept her involved even after her kids had graduated.

She adds it is tough to estimate how many lives she and her late husband, Tim, have touched during their involvement with 4-H, but it is certainly in the hundreds if not more. Reever does not volunteer for the recognition but says it was an honor to be selected for the Hall of Fame.

Reever continues to volunteer with Carroll County 4-H programs and constantly is searching for grants or other opportunities to expand on what the local clubs can offer. The new 4-H year begins in October, which is the time for new members to join. Reever encourages anybody who is not involved already to consider becoming a part of the organization.
