New Carroll County Ambulance Director Is Committed To Serving Area Residents

Monday, the Carroll County Board of Supervisors named Jamie Wuebker the new Director of Carroll County Ambulance Services. Wuebker became a PRN paramedic with the department in 2011 and moved to full-time status in March of this year. He says he was hopeful he would be able to extend his leadership role from another industry when he decided to apply for the position.

Wuebker says he is a team player and the type of leader who likes to work side-by-side with his peers. He leads by example and says he wouldn’t ask anyone to do something he isn’t ready to jump in and do himself. He adds he is looking forward to continuing serving Carroll County residents.

The director of the ambulance service is charged with leadership over more than just the department within the City of Carroll.

Wuebker says his first priority going into the position on Sept. 16 will be getting acclimated and learning the ropes. Working on filling positions throughout the county is also right at the top of that priority list. He says there are shortages everywhere and they can never seem to get enough help. The smaller the town, it seems, the smaller the number of individuals available to respond to a call.

The pandemic resulted in a suspension of in-person training for outlying areas. This makes it difficult for first responders to meet their continuing education requirements and Wuebker will focus on bringing back face-to-face learning options. Wuebker grew up in Arcadia, working in construction with his father during his youth. He moved to Carroll about 24 years ago and has 16- and 18-year-old daughters, a 25-year-old son and a two-year-old grandchild, and he says he can’t wait to get started in his new role. Those interested in learning more about becoming a first responder can contact Wuebker at 712-792-1335.
