Carroll County Public Health To Hold Vaccination Clinic Friday As Spread Of Delta Variant Spurs More Demand

Seven-day COVID-19 positivity rates in several regional counties have been in the double digits recently, with Calhoun County reporting the highest local percentage on Thursday morning at 14 percent. Carroll County dropped from 13 to 10 percent after Wednesday’s reporting and is now at the same level as Crawford County. Carroll County Public Health nurse, Sara Schulte, says the Delta variant continues to spread, making those numbers rapidly rise not only in the region, but across the state and the nation. Carroll County now has 52.3 percent of the total population fully vaccinated, and the spread of the variant has seemingly spurred some into action as they are seeing more residents seeking vaccinations after several weeks of declining numbers. To make it easier for those interested in getting vaccinated, a Moderna and Pfizer clinic will be held on Friday, Sept. 3 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at their offices, now located on the second floor of St. Anthony Regional Hospital across from the cafeteria. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are preferred and these can be made by calling 712-794-5400. Masks are required. “With the Delta variant becoming more common, it’s better to get inoculated sooner rather than later,” Schulte says. “If you’ve been on the fence until now, we urge you to seriously consider the risks of contracting the virus. The FDA has approved the Pfizer vaccine and we have ample supply of Pfizer and Moderna with one vial of Johnson and Johnson available.”
