The interviewing process for the City of Carroll’s search for a new Parks and Recreation Director continues and the next step involves a public reception. City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, says this has been scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 8 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. at the Carrollton Inn Event Centre.
Pogge-Weaver describes the role the director plays.
The four candidates include one Carroll resident, Hunter Campbell. He holds a BS degree in business administration. Mark Fitzgerald is from Thornton, Colo., but grew up in the Jefferson and Panora areas. Fitzgerald holds a BA in leisure services and general studies. Ian Knutsen lives in Huxley and holds a master’s in business administration with a public administration specialization and a bachelor’s degree in sports recreation management. The final candidate, Chad Tiemeyer, lives and works in Shenandoah. He holds a BA in exercise science with an emphasis in health and wellness promotion. Brief biographies on these four candidates can be found below. Pogge-Weaver says once the public meets the candidates, they will be asking for community feedback.
Pogge-Weaver says there are other steps in the interview process to be taken while the candidates are here in Carroll and explains the estimated timeline.
He adds the goal is to have the selected individual start in October, allowing for transition time from their current role. Pogge-Weaver adds input will be considered from the public, the council and other staff members, but the ultimate selection decision falls under the purview of the City Manager.
