A Jefferson man has been appointed to serve on the eight-member 2021 Military Academy Selection Board for Iowa’s 4th Congressional District. Representative, Randy Feenstra, says four of these members will serve for two years and four, including Phil Thompson, will serve for one year. “I appreciate their willingness to volunteer their time, charged with the unique and important task of selecting candidates to recommend for one of four U.S. service academies,” Feenstra says. “This process is an outstanding opportunity for Iowans seeking to serve our country and wanting to receive a quality education. I strongly encourage interested Iowans to apply for a nomination through my office.” The deadline for students to apply for a Military Service Academy through Feenstra’s office is 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1.
