Sunday Owl Seminar At Swan Lake Will Feature Live Bird Release

The focus will be all things owl during a special educational seminar this weekend in Swan Lake. The program begins at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 5 in the campground’s outdoor amphitheater. Naturalist, Matt Wetrich, explains what will be covered during the presentation.

Wetrich says owls are a fascinating family of birds with a wide variety of behaviors, plumage and hunting habits. He notes Swan Lake is home to a few of the more common owl varieties, but they occasionally play host to some of the rarer specimens.

They have a special treat for attendees after the educational session at the amphitheater has finished with a rehabilitated owl to be released back into the wild. Wetrich says witnessing something like that can be hard to describe to someone who has not seen it before.

Sunday’s seminar is offered at no charge and will last for approximately one hour. Wetrich says it will be presented in a manner enjoyable for people of all ages.  For more information, contact the Swan Lake Conservation Education Center at 712-792-4614.
