South Central Calhoun welcomed Audubon and other area teams to their early bird tournament Saturday, with the Titans and Wheelers grabbing solid wins.
Audubon and South Central Calhoun started off the day with a game against each other, with the Titans picking up the 2-0 win, 21-16, 21-18. South Central Calhoun continued to roll in the tournament with two more 2-0 victories, against Perry, 21-13, 21-6, and Belmond-Klemme, 21-16, 21-15. Riley Batta was the biggest offensive threat for the Titans. Batta recorded 42 total kills on the day with 16 digs to boot. The Titans faced some resistance against Manson NW-Webster who picked up a set win. The Titans won 2-1, losing set one 21-18, and then winning set two 21-11 and set three 15-7. The Titans final match of the day was against Spencer where they picked up another 2-0 sweep, 21-14 and 21-15. Individually in the tournament, Keira Hammen and Brenna McAllister both recorded double digit kills, 18 and 16 respectively, and Jayci Graeve continued to set the ball well, recording 59 assists.
For Audubon, following the loss to South Central Calhoun, they picked up two 2-0 wins, over Belmond-Klemme, 21-12 and 21-16, and Perry, 21-12 and 21-10. Audubon had strong performances across the board on the day, with Mattie Nielsen and Jaci Christensen recording 25+ digs, 29 and 30 respectively, and Addie Hocker, who was setting the ball well, ended her day with 30 assists. Audubon had difficulties against Spencer and Manson-NW Webster in their final two matches of the day. They dropped two sets to Spencer, 21-11 and 21-14, and were able to take a set from Manson-NW Webster, 21-15, but lost 2-1, 24-22 and 15-5. Other notable stats include Kali Irlmeier who recorded eight aces, Aleah Hermansen who had 20 assists, 13 kills, and 15 digs, and Kylee Hartl who had 20 digs.

East Sac and Ar-We-Va competed in the Ridge View Tournament Saturday with East Sac continuing to look strong and Ar-We-Va having good games against their competition.
East Sac started the weekend with three 2-0 sweeps of OABCIG, 21-11 and 21-10, MMCRU, 21-16 and 21-14, and Woodbury Central, 21-7 and 21-10. Across the board, East Sac looked sharp, with Olivia Grote, Meredith Brown, Carly Fischer, and Paige Wunchel recording double digit Kills, and Mary Bontrager and Wunchel sharing the assist duties, recording 28 and 40 respectively on the day.
East Sac dropped a close set against Westwood 26-24, but returned to form by winning set two 25-11 and set three 15-6. The Raider’s dominant run during the tournament came to a screeching halt when they went up against the undefeated Ridge View Raptors. While they were defeated, East Sac kept Ridge View on their toes and lost both sets by a close score of 25-20. In that game, Grote, Brown, Fischer, and Kate Vondrak all recorded four kills and Wunchel had eight digs and nine assists. The Raiders ended the day with a record of 4-1.
Ar-We-Va’s day started off with a game against Ridge View where they had some good looks, but ultimately fell 21-12, 21-10. Game two for the Rockets was against West Monona, where they were able to take a set. The Rockets went down 21-6 in set one, and came back to win set two 21-19. While they dropped set three 15-8, the Rockets had some positive moments. Kora Obrecht recorded four blocks, Maggie Ragaller had seven digs, and as a team, the Rockets recorded five aces. Ar-We-Va’s final game of the day ended with a 2-0 loss against Westwood 21-12, 21-13. Individually for the Rockets, Delaney Schurke had 18 assists and three aces, Ragaller ended her day with 13 digs and nine blocks, and Sammie Hinners had eight blocks.

Coon Rapids Bayard hosted their tournament Saturday and had some close matches and picked up a win.
In game one, the Crusaders went up against Panorama and had a close set one, but lost 21-17 and eventually lost set two 21-14. Gracy Johnson had a good performance, recording four assists and four digs, as did Lacie Davis who recorded nine digs. Coon Rapids Bayard in game two was able to take a set from Madrid. The Tigers took set one 21-10, the Crusaders took set two 21-9, but dropped set three 15-12. Breely Clayburg and Brynn Bass had strong offensive performances, recording eight kills and seven kills respectively.
The Crusaders dropped game three against AHSTW 21-11 in both sets. In their final game of the day, Coon Rapids Bayard picked up a 2-0 victory against Collins-Maxwell. The Crusaders won set one 21-17 and set two 21-14. The team was solid across the board, seeing Bass and Mia Leighty getting three kills each and Clayburg recording six aces.
