Kuemper rebounded from Week 1 with an impressive performance, dominating the 2nd half and pitching their first shut out of the season. The defense had 4 interceptions and Kuemper scored 13 points off those turnovers. Kuemper allowed only 123 yards for the game and held Caden Anderson to 5-18 passing, he started the game connecting on four of his first five passes. The Knights led 7-0 at half, outscoring Atlantic 27-0 in the 2nd half.

Taye Vonnahme helped set the tempo early with a powerful run for a touchdown on Kuemper first possession of the game. The Knights went 91 yards on the drive that was kept alive when Cooper Pottebaum hit Nate Overmohle for 40 yards on a 3rd and long inside the Kuemper 10 yard line. A couple plays later Vonnahme found a seam on the left side and broke to open field. A defender had an angle but Vonnahme lowered his shoulder and ran over the tackler and scored from 48 yards. That was all the scoring in the first half as Kuemper had two punts and an interception on the final play of the half on their next three possessions. Atlantic picked up a few first downs in the 1st half but couldn’t sustain drives.Kuemper blocked a 43 yard field goal attempt late in the 1st quarter to maintain the 7-0 lead. Nate Overmohle picked off Caden Anderson on the 3rd play of the 2nd half and Kuemper turned it in to a 1 yard touchdown for Cooper Pottebaum. The Kuemper lead stretched to 13-0. Taye Vonnahme broke off his second big run of the half late in the 3rd quarter, scoring from 63 yards to put Kuemper ahead 20-0. Carter Pudenz jumped on a fumble in the end zone early 4th quarter and John Boes had an interceptions, setting Kuemper up at the 2 yard line early 4th quarter. Vonnahme scored on a 6 yard run to cap the scoring with 8:22 left. Max Pietig intercepted the 3rd Caden Anderson pass with 5:56 left to seal the win. Kuemper improved to 1-1 on the season. Kuemper Stats None Posted Carroll At Gilbert Carroll 24 Gilbert 7 Spencer Clatt took the opening kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown and Carroll found themselves down early. They bounced back in a hurry and led before the 1st quarter was over and built a 21-7 lead by half. Cooper Ludwig had a big night on the ground as Carroll ran for 203 yards and over 4 yards per carry while holding Gilbert to 4 yards rushing on 17 carries. Carroll defense was outstanding, holding Gilbert to 116 yards of offense. Ethan Lengeling, combined to have more yards than Gilbert with 111 yards passing and 20 more on the ground. Carroll answered the early kickoff return with a 1 yard sneak by Ethan Lengeling late in the 1st quarter, tying the game at 7. The defense forced a punt and Zach Dirkx returned it 68 yards for a touchdown and Carroll was up 14-7 at the end of the quarter. Lengeling then hit Nick Macke on a slant route and he took it to the house for a 76 yard touchdown, putting Carroll ahead 21-7. Carroll out gained Gilbert 209 to 90 in the 1st half. Carroll scored on their first drive of the 2nd half when Elijah Lee hit a 24-yard field goal to cap the scoring. Ethan Lengeling finished with 111 yards passing and 1 touchdown. Cooper Ludwig carried it 30 times for 130 yards and Nick Macke had 2 catches for 94 yards, including a 76 yard touchdown. IKM-Manning brought a strong running back core and defensive line to their matchup against Westwood, and came out victorious in week two.
Westwood brought a strong rushing core, behind Junior Jackson Dewald, while IKM-Manning had a similar offensive strategy, but a plan to stop the rushing attack on defense. The Wolves in the first quarter did a good job at stopping the run and were able to put up seven points thanks to a fumble recovery and a one-yard rushing touchdown from Cooper Irlmeier. IKM-Manning took advantage of a poor handoff from Westwood to grab another fumble recovery and gain control of the ball coming into the second quarter. The Wolves continued to drive down the field in the second quarter and grabbed another rushing touchdown from seven yards out by Amos Rasmussen, giving IKM-Manning the 14-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Westwood was able to get on the board with a rushing touchdown from Dewald, but they were unable to score the two-point conversion. The Wolves were unable to score points in the third quarter, but they still held the 14-6 advantage coming into the fourth quarter. The Wolves and Rebels went back and forth, scoring two touchdowns each, with Dewald and Bryson Martindale of Westwood recording those rushing touchdowns, while Irlmeier and Rasmussen continued to dominate with two rushing touchdowns each. Westwood would score their final touchdown with 15 seconds left on the clock and attempted an onside kick, but IKM-Manning fell on the ball and kneeled to end the game in a victory 28-20. Rasmussen was perfect in PATs going four for four and recorded 20 points in total for the Wolves. Defensively, Hunter Smith was a wrecking ball, recording 24 solo tackles and being an integral part of stopping the rushing scheme of Westwood and only allowing the Rebels to convert one of their three two-point conversions.
IKM-Manning improves to 1-1 on the season as Westwood falls to 1-1. The Wolves are at home on Friday, September 10th to challenge Woodbury Central.

South Central Calhoun At Pocahontas Area Pocahontas Area 7 South Central Calhoun 0 A turnover, setting Pocahontas Area up inside the Titan red zone turned out to be the difference in the game as both teams moved the ball between the 30 yard lines but couldn’t finish drives. The Titans had several opportunities to tie the game but fell short as they slip to 1-1 on the season. Both defenses played well. The Titans held the Indians to 186 yards of offense and 3.8 yards per carry. Chase Boysen completed 5-11 passes for 41 yards. The Titans ran the ball for 143 yards but only averaged 3.8 yards per carry. The Titans struggled passing the ball completing just 1-11 passes for 3 yards. Both teams turned the ball over once with Pocahontas Area scoring on 4th down after the Titans turned it over inside the 10 yard line on a 1 yard sneak by Chase Boysen. South Central Calhoun defense nearly held them as Boysen scored on a second effort after being stood up short of the goal line. Blake McAlister led the Titans with 82 yard rushing and Jayden Soard finished with 39 yards on the ground. McAlister also had a team high 8.5 tackles. The Titans host 0-2 Emmetsburg on Friday. The Raptors were able to get their run game started in the 2nd half finishing with 279 yards and running for 7 yards per carry. The Raiders struggled to consistently move the ball, but sustained some drives in the 2nd half and scored on a nice eight play 61 yard drive late in the game. East Sac finished with 76 yards rushing and 95 yards passing. Cade Harriman set up the first score of the game, returning an interception 30 yards and the Raptors scored 3 plays later. Charlie Veit nearly returned the favor with an interception but the Raiders couldn’t take advantage and punted. The Raptors scored to extend the lead to 13-0 just before half. Luke Wright put the Raiders on the board in the 3rd quarter, scoring on a fumble recovery, one of two fumble recoveries for the East Sac defense. They created 3 turnovers, but East Sac turned it over three times. The Raptors extended their lead to 25-7 after the 3rd quarter and improved to 1-1 on the season. Aiden Vondrak finished with 95 yards passing and a touchdown to Charlie Veit late in the game. Tyler Schmitt had 78 yards rushing and 67 yards receiving to lead the team in both. Schmitt added 12.5 tackles, including 12 solo tackles. Luke Wright and Karter Ludwig each had a fumble recovery and Charlie Veit had an INT. The Radiers sit 0-2 and will head to 2-0 OA-BCIG on Friday. East Sac Stats Aiden Vondrak 11-22 passing 95 yards, touchdown, interception Tyler Schmitt 19 carries 78 yards, 6 receptions 67 yards- 12.5 tackles Boyer Valley At Audubon Audubon 53 Boyer Valley 14 Audubon was in control at halftime but blew the game open in the 3rd quarter with four touchdowns, extending their lead from 17-0 at half to 45-0 heading into the 4th quarter. The Wheelers finished with 409 yards offensively with 329 yards on the ground. They averaged 9.7 yards per carry and had two guys go over 100 yards. The defense allowed 228 yards, with 183 yards passing. Boyer Valley struck for a few big plays in the 4th quarter so many of the yards were after the game was well decided. The Bulldogs had touchdown passes of 61 and 47 yards in the 2nd half. Carter Andreasen was the story early in the game with touchdown runs of 19 yards and 72 yards in the 1st quarter. Carter Andreasen scored the first touchdown of the game after Gavin Smith had recovered a Wheeler fumble on the play before. Andreasen rambled 19 yards just before the end of the 1st quarter. The Bulldogs returned ensuing kick to the Audubon 7 yard line, the Wheeler defense held and Andreasen broke off a 72 yard touchdown run on the 1st play to give the Wheelers some breathing room. Matthew Beisswenger added a 26 yard field goal with 4:24 left in the half and Audubon led 17-0 at half. Gavin Smith got going in the 2nd half and scored the first Wheeler touchdown on a 36 yard run, making it 24-0. Carter Andreasen added his 3rd touchdown, a 4 yard run a few minutes later and Audubon blew it open, leading 31-0. Smith found Garrett Christensen for a 32 yard touchdown and Audubon put the game away. Coach Sean Birks felt Carter Andreasen could have a big game and he did with 133 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns. Garrett Christensen had 61 yards receiving and a touchdown. The win moves them to 2-0 on the season. Coon Rapids Bayard didn’t have to drive far for most of their scores so they don’t have big offensive numbers with 251 yards of total offense. They made good work of the short field as Gabe Obert scored four rushing touchdowns and did scamper for 51 yards for one of those scores. Easton Hays also showed off his speed on a 33 yard touchdown run. Tanner Oswald had a nice game passing with 91 yards on just 7 attempts and 2 of his 4 completions going for touchdowns. Coon Rapids Bayard averaged 6 yards per carry on the ground and Oswald had a yards per completion of 22.8. The defense created 3 turnovers with 3 different players recovering fumbles. Gabe Obert broke out this week with 86 yards on 9 carries, averaging 9.6 yards per carry. He finished with 4 rushing touchdowns. Easton Hays added 54 yards and 7.7 yards per carry, along with 1 touchdown. Hays added a 29 yard touchdown catch and Lance Clayburg also had a 15 yard touchdown catch to go with 4 carries for 37 yards. That would be the only score for the Rockers whose offense struggled after a big game last week. The Rockets finished with 214 yards on offense with 142 of those on the ground. Kingsley Pierson was very balanced offensively with 174 yards rushing and 152 yards passing. Jackson Howe completed 12-14 passes for the Panthers with 3 touchdown passes to go with 48 yards on the ground and another touchdown. The Panthers averaged 6.7 yards per carry with Damon Schmid finishing with 140 yards on the ground. Ar-We-Va turned the ball over 3 times and had an interception returned 68 yards for a touchdown. The Rocket defense didn’t create any turnovers. Will Ragaller broke the hundred yard mark on the ground with 113 yards on 24 carries and touchdown. He threw for 72 yards but was intercepted 3 times. The Titans averaged 9.2 yards per carry while running for 239 yards. They added 146 yards passing with a pair of touchdowns. Glidden Ralston turned the ball over twice and gave up a 78 yard kickoff return for a touchdown. The Wildcats ran for 246 yards but struggled in the passing game, going 4-10. GTRA led 22-6 after the 1st quarter and extended the lead with 30 points in the 2nd quarter. The Wildcats did score in all 4 quarters. Tyler Brant went over the 100 yard mark for the 2nd straight week with 109 yards and a touchdown. Bryson Ertz added a touchdown and 54 yards running and Ethan Olberding scored a touchdown and ran for 62 yards.
