Senator Grassley Supports Governor Reynolds’ Right To Handle Pandemic At State Level

Last week, Iowa Gov., Kim Reynolds, fired back at the Biden Administration after receiving a letter saying Iowa and four other states were being investigated by the Education Department for their stance on banned or limited mask requirements in schools. Reynolds says this is nothing more than a political fight to distract from Biden Administration failures in Afghanistan, on the border, with inflation and more. She is standing her ground saying, “In Iowa, we will continue to support individual liberty over government mandates.” U.S. Senator, Chuck Grassley, has commented on the situation, praising Reynolds for her leadership through the pandemic.

As the Delta variant sweeps across the state and the country, the one thing he says has been learned is that vaccinations help with stemming the severity.

According to the state’s COVID tracking website at www.coronavirus.iowa.gov, as of Tuesday morning, 64.1 percent of Iowans 18 and older have been fully vaccinated and 66.7 percent of those eligible twelve and up have received at least one vaccine dose. Those not fully vaccinated are accounting for 90.3 percent of patients in intensive care units (ICUs) and 82.4 percent of those hospitalized with a COVID-19 diagnosis.
