Two local organizations have been selected to receive funding from the Union Pacific Foundation Community Ties Giving program. With the assistance of Region XII Council of Governments, applications from the City of Denison and the Maple River Area Parks were approved. Denison was awarded $10,000 to be used toward the construction of a new community recreation center while Maple River received $11,000 to finalize park improvements. The Union Pacific Foundation provides grants to communities they serve to promote safety, improve workforce development, build community spaces, address local needs and more.
