Combine Pulls Down Power Pole And Lines In Jefferson On Thursday

There were no reports of injuries when a combine pulled down power lines in Jefferson on Thursday. The Jefferson Police Department responded to a report of a power pole and wires across the road in the 1200 block of South Elm Street at approximately 8:28 p.m. The subject involved in the incident, Troy Paup of Churdan, later called the Greene County Law Enforcement Center and told authorities someone had stopped him as he was driving his combine and advised him he was dragging power lines behind him. He had been northbound on South Elm when the combine top apparently came into contact with the lines, causing the damage. Alliant Energy arrived on the scene to clear the roadway and repair the damage.
