Accident Reported When Occupants Were Unable To Exit Vehicle Due To Damage

At least one person was transported for treatment following a Sunday evening accident near Lake Panorama. The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for assistance from the New Homestead assisted living facility in Guthrie Center. The reporting party told authorities a 2003 Ford Taurus had arrived at that location, but had been in an accident and the occupants were unable to open the doors to exit the vehicle. The driver, 75-year-old Lynn Roy Sparks, told the responding deputy that he was driving on a gravel road near Fansler when tall grass on both sides obscured his view of the roadway and he ended up running the vehicle into the ditch. He and his wife, who was a passenger in the car, were able to contact a son who pulled them out of the ditch. There was an estimated $5,000 in damage to the Ford. Guthrie County Emergency Medical Services assisted at the scene.
