Two Scranton residents who were arrested in July for stealing over $700-worth of goods from a Carroll retailer were sentenced Friday in Carroll County District Court. Court records show 34-year-old Shon Edward Caldeira and 55-year-old Anne Marie Caldeira both pled guilty to a single count each of third-degree theft, an aggravated misdemeanor, as part of an agreement reached with prosecutors. The two-year prison sentences were suspended, and they were instead placed on probation for two years to the Iowa Department of Corrections. They both were ordered to pay over $1,000 in fines, surcharges and victim restitution. The Caldeiras were arrested by the Carroll Police Department on July 16 after the pair entered the Carroll Walmart, filled carts with items and left the store without paying.
