Carroll PD Responds To Three Accidents Friday And One Driver Is Arrested

There were a slew of accidents throughout the region over the weekend, which included three in Carroll on Friday alone. The first was reported at approximately noon on Friday at Grant and Suncrest Roads. The Carroll Police Department reports a 16-year-old male from Carroll was southbound on Grant Road in a 2007 Ford Fusion and was slowing for traffic. A 2007 Chevrolet Impala, driven by a 16-year-old female from Carroll, was also southbound, but failed to slow and rear-ended the Fusion. No injuries and only functional damages were reported. The female was cited for following too closely. The second incident was reported at 12:50 p.m. on Friday at the intersection of Highway 30 and Griffith Road. Thirty-nine-year-old Brad Stitz of Halbur was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Sierra and pulling an enclosed trailer southbound on Griffith. A 2019 Carroll County ambulance, driven by 60-year-old Patrick Fay of Glidden, was westbound on Highway 30 with its emergency lights and sirens activated. Stitz told authorities the visibility of the ambulance was blocked by a grain truck that was also westbound on 30 and he proceeded through the intersection, where he was struck by the ambulance. There was functional damage to both vehicles and that accident remains under investigation. The final accident report came in at approximately 9:33 p.m. in the 1600 block of N. West Street. A 2018 Dodge Ram was legally angle parked and was struck by a southbound 2012 Ford Focus, driven by 19-year-old Aaron Meister of Carroll. The Focus was disabled and Meister was arrested after recording a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of more than two times the legal limit at .171. He has been charged with first-offense operating while intoxicated, possession of alcohol by an underage person and striking an unattended vehicle.
