Grassley, 88, Addresses Concerns About Age As He Readies Campaign For Eighth Term In U.S. Senate

Last week, U.S. Senator, Chuck Grassley, announced he would run for his eighth term in the November 2022 midterms. Grassley, who celebrated his 88th birthday earlier this month, says his age will likely be talked about frequently in the months ahead. His opponents tried to make an issue of it during the 2016 elections, but Grassley simply points to his daily routine to show he is still more than able to represent the people of Iowa.

Grassley is the second oldest member of the Senate behind Senator Dianne Feinstein of California, who is his senior by only a few months. He says he put a lot of thought into the decision to run again and determined he still had work left to do in the Senate.

Grassley made his comments during a conference call with reporters Monday. He also spoke about the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2022, which recently passed the U.S. House of Representatives, the crisis at the nation’s southern border and the country’s apparent labor shortage. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more from Grassley in upcoming newscasts.
