SCC Students And Admins Release Statement Regarding Smoke Bombs Released Friday As Part Of Homecoming Festivities

South Central Calhoun (SCC) Community School District Superintendent, Brad Anderson, administrators, and student council members released a statement Monday afternoon apologizing for the unintended side effects of displays during Friday’s homecoming football game. A series of purple smoke bombs were set off in the home stands during the event, and Anderson says it was originally intended by students as a unique way to celebrate school pride. However, the smoke caused several players and fans to experience severe breathing difficulties. In a written statement, school officials and student leaders say, “On behalf of the district and the student body, we sincerely apologize to our fans and community members for any actions that may have caused you harm. This was a definite learning experience for our student body with the expectation to ask school officials, in the future, prior to carrying out such actions. We love our Titan fans and want you to continue to enjoy your experiences at these events.” According to Anderson, affected individuals were treated by paramedics at the field, but he is not aware of any hospitalizations as a result of the smoke bombs.
