The Storm Lake Police Department reports an Alta man wanted on outstanding warrants for drug and firearm charges was taken into custody last night (Tuesday). Twenty-five-year-old Taxavier Lamar Ford was located by law enforcement in Storm Lake and arrested without incident at approximately 9:40 p.m. He was booked into the Buena Vista County jail for felon in possession of a firearm, a class D felony, and second-offense possession of a controlled substance, an aggravated misdemeanor. Those charges stemmed from a Feb. 26 incident in Storm Lake when officers located a .40-caliber handgun, ammunition and methamphetamine in his vehicle following Ford’s arrest on warrants from a separate incident. He also faces charges in Buena Vista County District Court for controlled substance violations, failure to affix a drug tax stamp and felon in possession of a firearm, all class D felonies, and carrying weapons, an aggravated misdemeanor, stemming from a Sept. 22, 2020 traffic stop in Storm Lake.
