A permanent change will be made in the coming weeks to the intersection at U.S. Highway 71 and Iowa Highway 175 in Auburn. The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) will be converting that intersection from a two-way stop to an all-way stop effective Monday, Oct. 18. A digital message board was placed at the location last Friday to provide advanced notice to motorists regarding the pending change. Other changes will include stop ahead and all-way stop signs, red flags and additional pavement markings. The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
