Swan Lake State Park is celebrating the completion of their new shelter house with a public open house on Thursday. The approximately $400,000 structure officially opened this spring and was booked regularly over the summer for family reunions, community gatherings and more. The Oct. 7 open house begins at 4 p.m. at the shelter house with snacks and refreshments for attendees. At 6 p.m., staff will draw for a restored 1950 John Deere B tractor that was donated to the Carroll County Conservation Board to help raise funds for the purchase of new playground equipment at the shelter house. Raffle tickets are still available and can be purchased during the open house or at the Swan Lake Conservation Education Center for $20 each, three for $50 or seven for $100. A virtual tour of the new shelter house can be found included below.
