The Audubon County Sheriff’s Office will be participating in the 21st Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Take Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 23. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the public will be able to drop off potentially dangerous prescription medications at the Audubon County Sheriff’s Office, located at 318 Leroy St. Everyone is asked to enter through the door on the south side of the courthouse. Items allowed to be dropped off include tablets, capsules, patches and other solid forms of prescription drugs. Liquids, syringes, other sharps and illegal drugs will not be accepted. The DEA will also continue to take vaping devices and cartridges, but only if the lithium battery has been removed. The Audubon County Sheriff’s Office also maintains a drop box at their location that is available to the public year-round during normal business hours.
