Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: Volleyball Recaps for Tuesday

Carroll picked up a really nice win in the Raccoon River Conference on Tuesday knocking off ADM who was sitting above them in the conference standings. Carroll didn’t just win they took control and dominated two of the three sets and held off ADM in set two. Carroll hit .152 as a team, having two players with double digits in kills. The Tigers had nine blocks with Haley Hoffman leading the way with four. Carroll had a 93.4% serve efficiency and had seven aces.

Carroll came out on fire and ran away in set one winning 25-13. ADM fought back in set two and the two teams went into extra points with Carroll pulling out a two point win. That gave them the momentum to control set three and finish the sweep.

We mentioned that two players had double figures in kills, Josie Ayala led the way with 12, Alyssa Brant had 10. Chloe Ludwig nearly had double digits, finishing with 9 kills. Kaitlyn Tigges had 29 assists as Carroll finished with 36 assists. Hannah Jorgensen continues to lead an improving back row and had a team high 15 digs. Josie Ayala added 9 digs. Haley Hoffman paced the defense as the net with 4 blocks. Hannah Jorgensen and Chloe Ludwig each had 2 aces.

Carroll improved to 17-15 overall and 4-3 in the Raccoon River Conference. The loss drops ADM to 14-8 and 5-3. Carroll travels to Bondurant Farrar on Thursday on KIKD 106.7. The Blue Jays lead the conference at 25-6 and 6-1.

Coon Rapids Bayard controlled the match with their serve as they picked up their second conference win of the season. They built early leads in sets one and two and rallied in set three. Brynn Bass had service runs in all three sets and finished with a match high 8 aces. Ar-We-Va made runs in the first two sets but weren’t able to keep their momentum.

Ar-We-Va led 4-3 early in set one and were tied at seven before Brynn Bass went on a 7-0 service run that put the Crusaders ahead 14-7. The lead grew to nine before Coon Rapids Bayard stretched the lead again. Emma Jurgens and Breeley Clayburg swung well at the net in set one for the Crusaders. Ar-We-Va didn’t was out of system most of set one and didn’t have many swings.

Coon Rapids Bayard jumped out 6-0 in set two only to watch Ar-We-Va cut it to 7-4. The Crusaders responded and built the lead back to 11-4. Ar-We-Va fought back and was down 14-11 before Brynn Bass went on a service run and ended the set with an ace. Bass served 11 straight points.

Ar-We-Va came out in set three looking to force a fourth set. They got Jamie Hausman, Maggie Ragaller and Kora Obrecht going at the net and were up 10-5 when Brynn Bass went back to the service for Coon Rapids Bayard. Bass led the Crusaders to a 13-10 lead with an 8-0 run. The Rockets didn’t fade and grabbed a 14-13 lead but that would be their last  lead. Coon Rapids Bayard went back ahead 15-14 and eventually went up by 6. The match ended on an Emma Jurgens kill.

Emma Jurgens and Breeley Clayburg each had 6 kills to lead the Crusaders. Brynn Bass added 4 kills. Gracy Johnson was solid setting the ball and had 11 assists. Jessica Evans had a nice night at the net and had a team high 3 blocks. Brynn Bass had 8 aces, Haley Halbur added 3 aces and Jessica Evans had 2 Aces.

Kora Obrecht and Maggie Ragaller led Ar-We-Va with 6 kills each while Jamie Hausman added 3 kills. Obrecht had a team high 15 digs, Ragaller added 11 digs and Jamie Hausman had 9 digs. Trista Reis had a nice service run with 3 straight aces and finished with a team high 3 aces. Delaney Schurke added 14 assists and 2 aces.

Coon Rapids Bayard improved to 7-13 overall and 2-5 in the Rolling Valley Conference. Ar-We-Va fell to 3-17 overall and 2-6 in the Rolling Valley Conference. Both teams head to CAM Anita for the Rolling Valley Conference Tournament on Saturday.

Glidden Ralston battled well and stayed aggressive but CAM Anita back row played well, digging up a number of the Wildcats big swings. The Wildcats were really close to taking sets one and two on the road but the Cougars serve kept the Wildcats out of system just enough for them to squeeze out wins in the two opening sets. CAM Anita controlled the third set, allowing them to finish off the sweep. Glidden Ralston had their eight match win streak snapped with the loss.

Paige Klocke led the offense at the net with 9 kills, Alicen Dreessen 7 kills and Lauren Hulsing had 5 kills. Addy Boell finished with 21 assists. Tiela Janssen had a team high 21 digs, Summer Toms 16 digs, Ashlynn Tigges 11 digs and Paige Klocke added to a strong overall night with 10 digs. Lauren Hulsing had a strong night at the net defensively as well with 3 blocks.

Glidden Ralston fell to 14-6 overall and 5-3 in the Rolling Valley Conference. The Wildcats head to the conference tournament in CAM Anita on Saturday.

Paton Churdan suffered a tough loss on the road, dropping the match in five sets. The Rockets fell to 1-13 on the season and 0-5 in the Rolling Valley Conference.  The Rockets swung well with 46 kills and three players in double figures. They served well finishing with 12 aces and the back row was solid with 50 digs.

Carmyn Paup had her best night at the net with 15 kills, she added 14 digs and 3 aces. Paige Teeples continues to swing well with 14 kills to go with 10 digs and 4 aces. Emma Stream had a nice overall night with 12 kills and 11 digs. Taryn Baugh added 36 assists and 3 aces.

The Rockets wrap up the regular season Thursday at home against Eagle Grove before heading to the conference tournament on Saturday in CAM Anita.
