Maxine Emma Christensen, age 87, of Carroll, IA, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Journey Senior Services in Carroll surrounded by the staff who had lovingly cared for her for the last 2 years.
Graveside services will be held at 3 P.M. on Thursday October 14, 2021, at the Dow City Cemetery with Deacon Dave Prenger officiating.

Maxine, was the only child born to Andrew and Emma (Pencker) Christensen, on January 14, 1934, in Audubon County, IA. She graduated from Audubon High School and attended Northwest Missouri State College, in Maryville MO, receiving her bachelor’s degree. Maxine then moved to Ohio, where she taught elementary school for 10 years before returning to Iowa to care for her parents. Maxine moved to Carroll in 2000. She loved her treasures, reading, and scooting around town. Maxine dearly loved her family farm in Audubon County. For those who reached out to her in friendship, Maxine was grateful. Maxine enjoyed visiting with anyone who sought her out. She loved being in the center of the action when events were taking place in Carroll.
Maxine is survived by friends, now family, Alan and Anne Loew, Carroll, IA, Richard and Myrna Schwarte, Templeton, IA, Chuck and Mary Thatcher, Breda.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Emma Christensen.
