A Coon Rapids man faces charges in Carroll County District Court for allegedly assaulting an officer and damaging a patrol vehicle following an incident with police earlier this month. Court records show 29-year-old Joshua Alexander Greene was arrested on Oct. 7 by the Coon Rapids Police Department. An affidavit from law enforcement indicates the incident began when officers were dispatched in response to a reported assault. Authorities allege Greene had threatened and pushed two individuals and refused to comply with officers’ commands when they arrived on scene. Court documents state Greene took a flashlight from law enforcement and threw it towards an officer, causing $1,500 in damage to one of their squad cars. Greene was eventually taken into custody and transported to the Carroll County jail, where he was charged with second-degree criminal mischief and assault on persons in certain occupations with intent to cause injury, class D felonies, and assault and interference with official acts, simple misdemeanors. He was released from custody on his own recognizance after appearing before a magistrate. Greene’s preliminary hearing is slated for Thursday, Oct. 28.
