Glidden Ralston won sets one and three with a tough serve that forced Ar-We-Va out of system. Ar-We-Va responded well to the set one loss and led all of set two with outstanding play at the net and with their own serve. The Rockets led most of set three but Glidden Ralston rallied late to win it and advanced with a 3-1 victory.
Summer Toms and Ashlynn Tigges served the ball well for Glidden Ralston in set one as Toms had 3 aces, helping the Wildcats pull away. They trailed 1-0, before going up 2-1. They built the lead to 6-1, forcing Ar-We-Va to take a timeout. That didn’t slow the momentum as Paige Klocke was swinging very well on the outside. Glidden Ralston went up 20-3 before Ar-We-Va appeared to settle in. They Wildcats won 25-7 and appeared to have the momentum.
Ar-We-Va responded in set two, holding off several Wildcat attempts to get a lead. Glidden Ralston tied set two at 3, 4, 5 and at 21 but Ar-We-Va found an answer each time. Kora Obrecht picked up a couple aces, Jamie Hausman and Maggie Ragaller each had a critical kill and Delaney Schurke had a service run to help extend the Rockets lead to as much as 7. The Rockets scored the final four points to even the match.
Ar-We-Va looked in control in set three, up 19-13 but this time Glidden Ralston wasn’t to be denied. Lauren Hulsing had a couple nice blocks, Paige Klocke got going again from the outside and the Wildcats got Ar-We-Va out of system with their serve. They tied the set at 22 and took t eh lead for good at 23-22, winning on a Vanessa Koehler kill. The Wildcats had taken the momentum back heading into the fourth set.
Ar-We-Va started each set with a 1-0 lead and did it again in set four. The Wildcats again rallied to lead 2-1 and Ar-We-Va would tie the set at 3. That would be as close as they would get in set four as Lauren Hulsing took over at the net. The Wildcats pulled away to advance into the Regional Quarterfinals Vs CAM Anita, who beat Orient Macksburg 3-0.
The Wildcats and Cougars met last week with CAM Anita coming out on top. Glidden Ralston improved to 16-8 on the season while Ar-We-Va closes out the season at 4-20.

The Audubon Wheelers bounced back from their performance in the Western Iowa Conference tournament to win their first-round playoff match against Exira-EHK Monday night.
Both teams started off the first set by going back and forth with the lead. Audubon tied the Spartans at 5-5 and started to inch away from them. Exira-EHK were an arm’s length away from taking the lead down 9-8, but Audubon didn’t let that happen. The Wheelers from that point went on a 16-8 run that gave them the set one victory at 25-17. Many times, in this contest Exira-EHK were swinging hard at the ball but were sending it too far, allowing Audubon to bounce back and go on a run. Although that wasn’t the case in set two where the Spartans gave the Wheelers a hard time. Both teams had a stretch of bad serves, but Audubon was able to get back on track and start to take back the set after being tied at 12-12. The Wheelers got on a 9-3 run that got them up 21-15 that was halted momentarily by Exira-EHK, who was able to get within two points of tying the game again at 24-22. But it was Jaci Christensen who ended the set with a Wheeler win at 25-22 with a powerful swing to the corner.
The Wheelers were able to carry their momentum into set three starting off with a 2-0 lead. The Spartans kept it close in the beginning, and matched the Wheelers at 2-2, 3-3, 7-7, and 8-8. Past that 8-8 tie, Audubon started to pull away from the Spartans by going on a lengthy run that ended with Audrey Jensen pushing over a slow ball that sealed the set win for Audubon at 25-16. The Wheelers improve to 10-17 overall on the season. Wednesday night, the Wheelers will travel to Ankeny to take on Ankeny Christian Academy in their round two playoff match.

Coon Rapids Bayard battled hard all night and played well, keeping each set close until late in all three sets when Ankeny Christian Academy quick offense took control. The Crusaders finished with 11 kills, and had five different players with a kill. The back row had 18 digs and the front row had four different players with at least one block.
The Crusaders scored in the mid-teens in each of the first two sets before edging into double figures in set three. The loss drops them to 9-16 as they wrap up the season. ACA improved to 31-3 and will host Audubon on Wednesday in the Regional Quarterfinals.
Breeley Clayburg had a team high 5 kills and Brynn Bass added 3 kills. Mallory Leighty and Emma Jurgens each had 2 blocks. Lacie Davis led the back row with 11 digs. Haley Halbur had a team high 7 assists.

Paton Churdan saw their season come to an end in a hard fought first round match in the Class 1A Region 4 playoffs against St Edmond Monday night.
The Rockets came out with great determination in set one as they’d stay within close distance of St. Edmond’s lead. The Rockets ultimately dropped set one by a score of 25-17. Carmyn Paup and Paige Teeples put up great numbers in this match, with Paup recording six kills and eight digs while Teeples had five kills and five digs. The Rockets were still hanging on in set two, but once again St Edmond got the better of them, winning 25-15. Similar situation in set three, the Rockets recorded double digit points and stayed relatively close to St Edmond, but the Gaels were too much and took set three 25-15 to win it in three sets. The Rockets’ season comes to an end with a final record of 1-14.

IKM-Manning played their best volleyball of the season and nearly advanced into the Regional Quarterfinals leading late in the fifth set before it slipped away. The Wolves battled back twice from down a set to tie the match at 1-1 and 2-2. They had a lead in the final set and even had match point up 14-12 but fell 17-15. Head Coach McKaylie Croghan says she was very proud of her team’s effort on Monday.
The Wolves fell down early in set one and trailed 20-10 before getting on a roll and cutting it to 3 late. They lost the set but gained momentum, which propelled them into set two. Megan Williams and Jessica Christensen were hitting well at the net through the first two sets and helped the Wolves pull out the win in set two. Williams had 9 kills and Christensen 7 kills heading into set three.
Panorama appeared to take control of the match winning set three but 11 points but IKM-Manning battled back in set four. The Wolves went up 17-14 midway through and pulled away for the win. Set five went back and forth with each team scoring two points in a row for most of the set. The Wolves grabbed the lead late and had match point up 14-12 but Panorama scored five of the last 6 points to win the match.
Megan Williams and Bianca Cadwell each had 11 kills to lead a balanced attack with Jessica Christensen finishing with 7 kills. The Wolves served well with 15 aces, Kylie Powers had a team high 4 aces, with Jersey Bexten, Emmie Ring and Bianca Cadwell all adding 3. Amber Halbur had a team high 16 digs, Bianca Cadwell had 13 digs, followed by Eryn Ramsey and Jessica Christensen each with 11 digs. Amber Halbur also had 19 assists.
The Wolves wrap up the season 1-28.
