There was one person injured in a three-vehicle accident Saturday in Jefferson. Officers with the Jefferson Police Department as well as a deputy with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and members of the Jefferson Fire Department responded to the scene at Elm and Washington Streets at approximately 1:56 p.m. The initial investigation has revealed that Heather Kissel of Jefferson was eastbound on West Washington Street in a 2009 Toyota Scion, but failed to stop at the posted sign at Elm. As she traveled through the intersection, she struck a northbound 2018 Lincoln Reserve that is owned by Moffit Ford of Boone but was being operated by Kelly Jewett of Paton. After hitting the Lincoln, the Kissel vehicle continued eastbound and struck a 2012 Town and Country van operated by Donna Tourte of Jefferson that was stopped at the intersection. One of these drivers, who was not identified by authorities, was transported to the Greene County Medical Center by Greene County Emergency Medical Services for treatment of suspected minor injuries. There was an estimated $5,000 in damage to the Kissel vehicle, $4,000 in damage to the Moffit vehicle and $3,000 to the Tourte vehicle. Kissel was cited for driving while suspended and failure to yield while entering a through highway.
