Carroll advanced into Thursday Regional Semifinal with a 3-0 sweep of Denison Schleswig on their final home match of the season. Carroll controlled all three sets minus a short time from in set one when the Monarchs went on a 10-4 run to tie the set at 13-13. The Tigers serve receive struggled early in set one but they were swinging well and serving even better. Set two was close early before Carroll pulled away and rolled to a win and set three never really felt in doubt though Carroll saw their six point lead trimmed to one late.  The win sends Carroll to Heelan on Thursday.

Carroll took off in set one and led 3-0 and 9-3 but some early struggles in serve receive allowed Denison Schleswig to make a run and tie the set at 13. Carroll came out of the timeout and won the serve back. Chloe Ludwig had a nice service run, picking up an ace and forcing the Monarchs out of system. Ludwig puled the Tigers lead to 20-13. They didn’t look back after that and won the set back to back points by Camryn Schable. Schable put Carroll up 24-16 with a kill and then ended the set with an ace serve. Riley Nagl was in an early rhythm with her hitters and had a nice service run to give the Tigers the 9-3 lead. The Tigers closed the set on a 12-3 run.

Denison Schleswig had a short lead in set two, getting up 1-0 but Carroll answered and went ahead 2-1. The set went back and forth as Carroll would go up by one and then the Monarchs would tie it. There were five ties early until Carroll went ahead for good at 7-6. They would slowly pull away as Alexia Thornock and Camryn Schable swung well and were getting touches at the net. Riley Nagl had another short service run and Carroll won 25-14 on a Josie Ayala kill.

Carroll changed up their lineup in set three and maintained a lead throughout the set after getting ahead 2-0. Denison Schleswig tied the match at 3 but Carroll scored four straight to lead 7-3. The Monarchs pulled within one point late at 21-20 but Carroll responded with two straight points and closed the match on a Hannah Jorgensen kill.

Josie Ayala ended with a team high 9 kills as the Tigers were balanced at the  net. Chloe Ludwig had 8 kills, Camryn Schable finished with 6 kills and Alexia Thornock added 5 kills. Riley Nagl paced the setters with 18 assists and Shayne Aschinger added 15 assists. Hannah Jorgensen led the team with 15 digs and 3 aces while Riley Nagl added 2 aces. Josie Ayala was second on the team with 7 digs and Riley Nagl had 5 digs.

Carroll improves to 18-16 on the season and will play at Heelan on 93.7 KKRL. The Crusaders are 18-16 and head a bye in the opening round. Lewis Central knocked off LeMars 3-0 and heads to Glenwood for the other regional semifinal on Thursday.
