A Carroll man accused of motor vehicle burglary in Coon Rapids has been sentenced in Carroll County District Court. According to court records, 48-year-old Paul Diamond Sanchez faced a single aggravated misdemeanor count following his Aug. 10 arrest by the Coon Rapids Police Department. Authorities say Sanchez was seen on camera entering the victim’s vehicle near the intersection of Main Street and 6th Avenue during the early morning hours of Aug. 9 and taking items from inside. He was later found to be in possession of some of the items reported missing. Sanchez reached a plea agreement with prosecutors last week and was sentenced Friday to two years in prison and over $2,000 in fines, surcharges, court costs and restitution. However, the sentence of incarceration was suspended, and he was instead placed on probation for two years to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services.
