Train horn mitigation strategies are being developed and discussed by the Carroll City Council, and at the same time, they are also reminding citizens about the protocols for getting attention on the crossings throughout the community. City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, says the Union Pacific Railroad has posted a phone number and crossing numbers which citizens will need to use to submit complaints.

He says the crossings are ranked by the number of those complaints received and typically, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

The Grant Road crossing was repaired last week and Pogge-Weaver says upgrades for Carroll and Clark Streets are in the works, but he is not sure if they will get to those yet this year. The Union Pacific phone number as well as the identification numbers for all crossings in Carroll are included below.
